The main function of the Equal Opportunities Cell is to give more emphasis to the deprived groups for learning and creating space for them to mainstream themselves. It is the duty of the Cell to oversee the effective implementation of policies and programmes for disadvantaged groups (SC/ST, OBC, Minorities, Jain, Physically challenged)to provide guidance and counseling with respect to academic, financial, social and other matters and to enhance the diversity within and outside the campus. The functions of the Equal Opportunity Cell are:

1. To ensure equity and equal opportunity to the community at large in the University and bring about social inclusion.
2. To enhance the diversity among the students, teaching and non-teaching staff and at the same time eliminate the perception of discrimination.
3. To help individuals or a group of students, belonging to the disadvantaged section of society to contain the problems related to discrimination.
4. To look into the grievances of the weaker section of society and suggest amicable solution to their problems. 5. To disseminate the information related to schemes and programmes for the welfare of the socially weaker section as well as notifications/memoranda, office orders of the Govt., or other related agencies/organizations issued from time to time.
6. To sensitize the University on the problems of SC/ST and other disadvantaged groups.
7. To organize workshops/seminars/guest lecturers for personality development programmes.
8. To refer the guidelines of UGC with regard to Equal Opportunities Cell.
