Outcome of the Program:

Two of our PG students (2015-17 batch) did research projects on tool development.

Example 1: Gender Role Assessment Tool:

The tool consists of 48 questions that assess gender roles of individuals on the basis of dimensions such as Equality, Diversity, Social justice, Inclusion and Gender role strain. The tool was tested for reliability and validity. Face validity was established by sociologist, psychologist, feminist and lawyer. Reliability was found to be excellent with a score of 0.998.

Example 2: Short scale version of CHIP (coping health inventory for parents) by McCubbin and McCubbin. (1983).

The original questionnaire consisted of 45 questions that were used to develop intervention strategies and measure the parents' ability to cope with stress resulting for parenting a child with chronic illness. The dimensions were Family integration, Medical situation and Self esteem. The researcher developed a short scale version of the same by using principle component analysis. The number of questions was brought down to 15. The reliability of the questionnaire was established using alpha reliability. The alpha score was found to be 0.96.
